As the Jacksonville area has become more cosmopolitan, so has it become more sophisticated in its artistic and entertainment tastes.

A variety of museums, a symphony orchestra with dedicated venue, numerous art galleries, nationally touring stage productions, community theater, ballet and a smorgasbord of tasty annual festivals give residents and visitors many choices, listed below are a few...

THE JACKSONVILLE SYMPHONY is Florida's only full time symphony making it the only class two symphony in the state.  Proformances range from classical masterpieces to pop music to bluegrass, with a variety of top-drawer guest soloists.  The regular concert season runs from October to June with special performances scheduled throughout the year.

TIMES UNION CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS seats 1,700, it's home to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and is the only symphony concert hall in Florida.  The center actually consists of three different performance halls.

THE CUMMER MUSEUM OF ART & GARDENS is the largest in Northeast Florida.  It has a permanent collection of more the 4,000 objects and is noted for its exhibitions of Old Master and American paintings, as well as Messen procelain.

THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY features the area's only planetarium, Northeast Florida history display, a Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Football Hall of Fame, and many interactive exhibits.

THE FLORIDA COMMUNITY COLLEGE AT JACKSONVILLE ARTIST SERIES brings in several national touring productions of Broadway shows each year and produces thriving community ensembles.

THE FLORIDA BALLET has performing since 1978.  The company stages major productions each year from classical to contemporary.

Floridians love their festivals, outdoor and indoor festivals are held year round and include arts, crafts, entertainment, music, dancing and food.
