THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP
One of the Professional golfer’s most prestigious tournaments. Played in late March at Sawgrass Players Club in Ponte Vedra Beach.
BAUSCH AND LOMB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Considered one of tennis’ best showcases for emerging new talent. Played annually at Amelia Island Plantation the tournament celebrated its Silver Anniversary in 2004.
THE GREATER KINGFISH TOURNAMENT
This is one of the largest fishing tournaments in the US with an average of 1,000 boats participating in this week long event. The tournament is held in July of each year.
TOYOTA GATOR BOWL GAME
This game has been played in Jacksonville each year since 1946. It is one of the oldest and most successful college football bowl games in existence. Events associated with the Gator Bowl include a parade through downtown, a coaches’ luncheon, a New Year’s eve gala and a catered pre-game tailgate party at the fairgrounds.
JACKSONVILLE JAZZ FESTIVAL
Dozens of the best jazz groups, singers and musicians entertain at this week long celebration. The festival also includes the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, Jazz for Kids clinics and a 5K event known as “Jazz on the Run”.
FLORIDA GEORGIA GAME
This has grown to become one of college football signature events. The game is often referred to as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Alumni and fans from these two Southeastern Conference powerhouses meet in Jacksonville for a week-end of good football and lots of fun.
